SYSGO and Thales Combine Efforts to Provide Innovative Platform for the Aerospace Market

DO-178B certifiable and ARINC 653 compliant PikeOS now runs on 3U ruggedized cPCI PowerEngineC7

SYSGO, the global supplier of highly reliable device software, and Thales, a leading provider of VMEbus and CompactPCI single-board computer (SBC) products and systems, announce the availability of the partitioned real-time operating system, PikeOS, on the new 3U Single-Slot PPC750FX CompactPCI Embedded Computer, the PowerEngineC7.

The result of this collaboration is the perfect answer to a growing number of combined requirements including the need for high density computing (i.e. pack the greatest functionality into the smallest standard form factor possible) without giving up flexibility and a software layer that provides the highest level of safety and security required by highly demanding applications.

The PowerEngineC7 is the first member of Thales Computers’ new family of ruggedized 3U CompactPCI embedded computers. Designed to meet the requirements of compact, real-time systems for the most demanding defense, aerospace, industrial, transportation, and communications applications, the PowerEngineC7 is the result of the combined expertise of Thales Computers, provider of high performance, low-power SBCs such as the flagship 6U VME PowerEngine7, and Thales Airborne Systems, provider of airborne mission computers.

PikeOS is a powerful and efficient COTS paravirtualization realtime operating system based on a state-of-the-art separation microkernel that is optimized for safety-critical and multi-level-secure applications. PikeOS supports multiple additional operating systems and Runtime Environments (RTEs), such as Linux, ARINC-653 and POSIX, together with their associated applications. Under PikeOS, operating systems and RTEs run concurrently and cooperatively in their own partitions. Applications running under PikeOS have total separation and protection from other processes running within the same system.
