SYSGO Newsletter 4/2018

Dear Sir, Dear Madam,

Why not exclusively meet your hard-, software and certification experts where they already are? Prior of an event, personal, compact. The SYSGO Business Coffee, the perfect opportunity for networking and direct knowledge exchange!

SYSGO recently attended the InnoTrans in Berlin – the leading international trade fair for transport technology taking place every other year. SYSGO's presence was a very good opportunity to listen and observe the latest trends in the railway industry.

Download this new whitepaper for free if you are interested to know how a separation kernel enables you to "divide and conquer" typical problems in Industry 4.0 device software architecture.

SYSGO GmbH is an official Development Partner in the AUTOSAR Consortium since October 2018. The goal of all AUTOSAR partners is to establish an open and standardized software architecture for electronic control units in automobiles.

Topics in this Newsletter:

  •     The SYSGO Business Coffee
  •     InnoTrans Berlin (with Whitepaper)
  •     Security-by-Design (with Whitepaper)

NEW: The SYSGO Business Coffee

We are happy to introduce the SYSGO Business Coffee - a business event for networking and knowledge transfer. We bring you together with our partners – an evening before a conference. The same location, the same general topics, but much more personal (strict limited number of participants), combining a relaxed get-together with a condensed exchange of knowledge.

The first Business Coffee will take place in the run-up to the HIS-2018 in Bristol. The participating partners (in alphabetical order) are Adacore, ANSYS, CoreAVI, Curtiss-Wright and Rapita Systems. The motto is: “New ideas for an effective development of future-oriented electronic systems with a high demand on Safety & Security”.

You want to know more? You are in Bristol at Nov 5th? You would like to get invitations to the next SYSGO Business Coffee?

InnoTrans 2018: Review (with Whitepaper)

3,062 exhibitors from 61 countries and approx. 160,000 trade visitors - in September, InnoTrans was the focus of attention at the Berlin trade fair grounds. And SYSGO was there as one of Kontron's partners.

SYSGO's presence was a very good opportunity to observe the latest trends in the railway industry. The demand for certifiable SIL4 COTS products is more and more growing. This includes rolling stocks, signaling systems as well as controls. Based on the feedback from InnoTrans visitors, especially ETCS level 3 systems, where requirements for both Safety & Security are very challenging, will significantly benefit from certifiable SIL4 COTS hardware and software.

The whitepaper (Safety certification for unsafe COTS Platforms) describes the aspects that need to be considered, when using complex (COTS) hardware in a safety system for railway applications.

NEW Whitepaper: Security-by-Design

The transition towards Industry 4.0 disrupts the conventional software development lifecycle of field-level devices. Adding features such as cloud connectivity to a PLC opens up a wealth of new possibilities on the manufacturing area, but the increased software complexity poses a risk for both Safety & Security.

Our brand-new whitepaper (Security-by-Design in Industry) shows how the PikeOS Separation Kernel enables you to "divide and conquer" typical problems in Industry 4.0 device software architecture, such as:

  •     Securely running critical and non-critical code side-by-side
  •     Updating devices without full re-certification
  •     Sandboxing untrusted 3rd-party code
  •     Shielding your legacy applications from new attack vectors

SYSGO presenting certMILS at the it-sa 2018

At the it-sa 2018 in Nuremberg, SYSGO presented the preliminary results of the certMILS project. PikeOS plays a key role in certMILS as a trusted platform helping to reduce the complexity of the certification of cyber-physical systems dramatically.

Involved partners from Austria, Czech Republic, Germany, Netherlands and Spain are committed to make the certification of composed systems affordable by bringing and demonstrating a Certified European MILS Platform and its Protection Profile. Completed and applied methodology including guidelines and templates are awaited objectives in the next project periods.

Further details about the progress of the certMILS project will be provided to you in one of our next newsletters.
