Driving European Digital Sovereignty
Last week, SYSGO had the pleasure of participating in the IPCEI-CIS Annual Assembly in Rotterdam—an event that brought together key stakeholders shaping the future of Europe’s digital infrastructure. Representing both SYSGO and our SUZECK initiative, we engaged with partners across the European ecosystem to exchange ideas, align strategies, and reinforce a shared vision: a sovereign, secure, and interoperable cloud-to-edge continuum for Europe.
Building Momentum for European Sovereignty
Across discussions and sessions, one theme stood out clearly—European digital sovereignty is no longer just an ambition; it is gaining real momentum. IPCEI-CIS is at the heart of this transformation, working to establish the first EU-wide interoperable, multi-provider cloud-to-edge continuum. This initiative enables trustworthy, federated, and energy-efficient data processing across Member States, ensuring that Europe retains control over its critical digital infrastructure.
What makes IPCEI-CIS particularly impactful is its scale and ambition. By connecting industrial players, research institutions, and public stakeholders, the project is laying the foundation for a resilient and competitive European digital ecosystem.
SYSGO and SUZECK: Enabling Safe and Connected Systems
Within this broader initiative, SYSGO contributes through the SUZECK (www.sysgo.com/suzeck) project by delivering key building blocks for secure and reliable systems integration.
Our focus is on:
- Safe Computing Platforms (SCP): Ensuring high levels of safety and security for critical applications
- Platform-independent APIs (OCORA-PI API): Enabling seamless interoperability between systems
These technologies are particularly relevant in safety-critical domains such as rail, where deterministic behavior, certification, and long lifecycle support are essential. By bridging traditional safety-critical systems with modern cloud and edge environments, SUZECK helps unlock new possibilities for innovation while maintaining strict reliability and safety requirements.
Collaboration at the Core
One of the most valuable aspects of the assembly was the opportunity to engage directly with European partners. The level of collaboration, openness, and alignment across industries is a strong signal that Europe is ready to move forward collectively.
The event itself—hosted by the Dutch IPCEI-CIS partners—was exceptionally well organized. Beyond the formal sessions, the evening gathering created space for deeper conversations in a relaxed atmosphere, complemented by great music and excellent food. These moments of informal exchange often spark the ideas and partnerships that drive real progress.
A stronger European Ecosystem ahead
The IPCEI-CIS initiative demonstrates that Europe has all the necessary ingredients to succeed: a strong industrial base, world-class research capabilities, and growing cross-border alignment. What we are witnessing now is these elements coming together in a coordinated and purposeful way.
At SYSGO, we are proud to contribute to this journey. Through SUZECK and our broader technology portfolio, we remain committed to enabling trusted computing, supporting critical industries, and strengthening Europe’s digital independence.
The path toward a sovereign European cloud and edge ecosystem is becoming clearer—and the momentum is unmistakable.
