RISC-V & PikeOS

RISC-V is an open-source Instruction Set Architecture (ISA) for processors that has gained popularity in recent years, particularly in the embedded systems space. PikeOS supports a wide range of RISC-V-based architectures and commits to support the latest open hardware ISA. RISC-V is used in micro controllers and embedded devices and driven by the non-profit RISC-V Foundation.

The RISC-V integration into our products opens modular and customizable solutions to address a wide range of markets and applications. We offer permissive licensing allowing multiple sources for an simple and secure supply and End-of-Life (EOL). Solution content is available to help Safety and Security qualification in our projects.

Customer Benefits

Check

Open-Source: Transparency and Flexibility

Development processes benefit from the open-source nature of the ISA, as well as reduced costs compared to proprietary ISAs. Additionally, RISC-V is designed to be highly scalable, which makes it well-suited for use in embedded systems of all sizes, from simple IoT devices to complex aerospace and industrial control systems.

Check

Highly customizable

By incorporating RISC-V into PikeOS customers can run multiple applications, each with its own operating system, on a single piece of hardware, improving performance and reducing costs. So not only applications but also hardware can be customized to certain needs. Thus, PikeOS supports a wide range of RISC-V processor extensions (e.g. named "H = Standard Extension for Hypervisor").

Check

Safety & Security

As RISC-V has a strong focus on Security, PikeOS is a perfect addition with its built-in support for highest Security standards and reliability required by Safety-critical systems used in the Aerospace, Automotive, and Industrial Automation industries. This is because RISC-V is designed to be highly secure and reliable, with features such as memory protection and error checking built in.

Check

Latest Technology

The RISC-V specification is public and is being further developed by many companies and universities world-wide. RISC-V's technology is therefore always up-to-date with the latest state of development.

About RISC-V

RISC-V International is the global non-profit home of the open standard RISC-V Instruction Set Architecture (ISA), related specifications, and stakeholder community

More than 3,100 RISC-V members across 70 countries contribute and collaborate to define RISC-V open specifications as well as convene and govern related technical, industry, domain, and special interest groups.

RISC-V combines a modular technical approach with an open, royalty-free ISA - meaning that anyone, anywhere can benefit from the IP contributed and produced by RISC-V. As a non-profit, RISC-V does not maintain any commercial interest in products or services. As an open standard, anyone may leverage RISC-V as a building block in their open or proprietary solutions and services.
