Image Processing System with Quad Frame Grabber

ELTEC offers flexible combinations of industrial PCs with powerful frame grabber plug-in cards for a wide range of image processing applications. The CyBox_9, for example, is a compact industrial PC for a wide variety of applications in industrial, image processing and medical environments. The space-saving stainless steel housing contains four free PCI/32 slots with half the installation length (max. 200 mm) for application-specific expansion cards as well as various power supply options (240 Vac / 12 Vdc / 24 Vdc ... ). An optional mass storage kit allows the additional integration of 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch hard disks, a CD/DVD drive and a 3.5-inch floppy disk drive. For application development, a comprehensive range of development tools and libraries is available under OS9, VxWorks and ELinOS as "Industrial Linux".

ELTEC enables powerful combination of flexible industrial PC and frame grabber

For demanding image processing applications, the CyBox_9 can be equipped with the Quadro channel frame grabber p3i_ASYNC, for example. In addition to the four simultaneous, mutually asynchronous input channels for four independent monochrome cameras, the board also offers software-programmable PCI and camera interfaces. Plug & Play support of various operating systems and adaptable control functions of the frame grabber in the direction of different camera types are thus easily manageable.

The PCI 2.2-compatible frame grabber digitises four independent image signals from free-running cameras and enables parallel acquisition into the main memory and the graphics card. Real-time acquisition of individual images or sequences is done via DMA directly into the PC's main memory. Via the four-channel DMA, up to four video data sequences can thus be transferred into four separate memory areas with a resolution of 8 bits/pixel.

Further technical features of the frame grabber are four trigger inputs (TTL), an onboard sync generator and support for restart/reset cameras, each with its own restart. Framegrabber Basic tools are available for Windows 98SE/ME/NT/2000/XP and Linux. A reduced version is available for the real-time operating systems VxWorks and OS-9, where the parameters are only contained in configuration files and no display routines are included. Connection to various image processing libraries is also possible. The cameras are connected via four inputs with Hirose connectors.
