PikeOS and ELinOS now support TQMa8Xx-Modules for Safety-critical Applications

Klein-Winternheim,

SYSGO now supports the embedded modules TQMa8Xx and TQMa8XxS from TQ Systems and thus expands its range of circuit boards for safety-critical and industrial up to SIL 2 level. The combined solution of real-time operating system & hypervisor PikeOS or embedded Linux ELinOS and TQMa8Xx-Board addresses a wide range of applications in which performance, especially in graphic applications and functional safety, are decisive. The solution can be used, among others, for medical and industrial appliances and in the railway and transport industry.

TQ Systems supplies three variants within the TQMa8Xx series, all based on variants of the new NXP i.MX8X application processor family which use the ARM Cortex A35 architecture. The TQMa8Xx module is equipped with ECC-protected DDR3L memory and, in combination with PikeOS, is therefore particularly suitable for High Performance Computing, safety-critical applications. Typical areas of applications can be found in human-machine interfaces (HMI), engine control systems, medical robots, industrial monitoring systems as well as all types of control systems.

The other two TQ boards differ from the TQMa8Xx in the memory used - they operate with low-energy LPDDR4 memory. The TQMa8XxS module also meets the SMARC specification and is supplied in the short module format. The TQMa8XxS is suitable as a hardware basis not only for PikeOS, but also for the extremely resource-saving Embedded Linux ELinOS for industrial applications. With ELinOS, these applications benefit from soft real-time while having a very short time span between development and productive use. Embedded software developers also benefit from ELinOS regular maintenance service release and long-term support.

Using PikeOS, applications up to entire operating systems of different criticalities can be virtualized on the TQMa8Xx module and executed safely in real time. Industry-specific safety certifications such as IEC 62304, IEC 61508, EN 50128/50657 and ISO26262 can be well-achieved with SYSGO's Certification Kits. In addition, the Common Criteria certification EAL 3+ (PikeOS 4.2.3 Build S5577, ARMv7 / 8, X86_64) guarantees a high level of security against cyber-attacks. When programmed accordingly, the combination of a board from the TQMa8Xx series and PikeOS offers a high level of protection against cyber threats such as hacker attacks, data theft and data manipulation.

The well-coordinated partnership between SYSGO and TQ Systems and their extensive experience with embedded systems offer customers a vital basis to successfully carry out critical embedded projects. Customers benefit from outstanding and direct assistance from the competent support of both embedded systems professionals.

About SYSGO
SYSGO is the leading European manufacturer of embedded software solutions such as the real-time operating system and hypervisor PikeOS and the embedded industrial-grade Linux ELinOS. Since 1991, SYSGO has been supporting customers in the aerospace, automotive, railway and IIoT industries in the development of safety-critical applications. SYSGO was the first company worldwide to achieve the safety requirement level SIL 4 for its multi-core capable real-time operating system and hypervisor PikeOS®. PikeOS® version 4.2.3 Build S5577 meets the Common Criteria at EAL 3+ for ARMv7, ARMv8 and x86_64 and is also certified according to the strictest safety standards such as IEC 61508, EN 50128, EN 50657 and ISO 26262, thus enabling application development according to the "Safe & Secure by Design" principle. For industrial embedded systems, SYSGO also offers ELinOS, a Linux distribution with real-time extensions for embedded systems. Furthermore, solutions such as the railway development platform (SAFe-VX) and the Secure Automotive Connectivity Platform (SACoP) for secure data transfer in, with and between automobiles are available.

SYSGO works closely with its customers such as Samsung, Airbus, Thales, Continental, etc., throughout the entire product life cycle and supports them in the formal certification of software according to international standards for functional and IT security. SYSGO is headquartered in Klein-Winternheim near Frankfurt, has subsidiaries in France and the Czech Republic and maintains a worldwide sales network. The company is ISO 9001:2015 and ISO27001:2017 certified and part of the European Thales Group.
